
Bugislu is a region in eastern Uganda. The coffee here is grown at moderately high elevations (1,300 to 2,600 meters) on the slopes of Mount Elgon.
Bugislu coffee has more body than most other East African coffees and low acidity.
Smooth and full bodied with a citric, fruity and refreshing acidity and chocolaty notes.
The Region
Mount Elgon is a mountain with volcanic origin that lies in the eastern part of the country. It is believed that Mount Elgon was once the highest mountain in Africa.The locals believe that god lives on Mount Elgon, far above the height that people can reach trough climbing.
The ancient hillsides consist of primary forest, streams, rivers and waterfalls. The region is lush and green.
The coffee farmers of Bagisu tribe, that live in the region, established their reputation producing one of Uganda's best arabica coffees with their Bugisu Washed Arabica.
