From the Celtic Coast: The Story Behind Guerande Sea Salt

Our Guerande salt is a firm favourite with our customers. It is a premium salt which is traditionally harvested from the Celtic Sea coast of Brittany.

The salt appears as pure natural crystals of coarse grey sea salt that have not been ground; it is completely as nature created it - unwashed, unground, unrefined - nothing added or removed at all. Our salt is precisely what people are looking for when they hear how good Celtic salt is for health. 

We used to refer to our Guerande salt as Celtic Sea Salt, because that is what it is. However, we recently received a Cease and Desist notice warning us not to use the term Celtic Sea Salt as it breaches the copyright of another salt harvesting company. We were slightly surprised to hear that the term Celtic Sea Salt has been copyrighted, but we wanted to reassure our customers that our sea salt is the same pure, natural salt, harvested from the same coast that it always has been, even if we aren’t allowed to call it that.
