Organic broccoli seeds in a re-sealable bag with growing instructions.

Use in your sprouter jar or tiered sprouter.

These fresh sprouts are great in salads, sandwiches, wraps and as a garnish.

They take just 4-5 days to grow and can be grown right through the year.

10g of seed will produce up to 100g of sprouts.

A truly superior nutritional sprout.

Delicious spicy flavour and crunchy texture for sandwiches, salads and spreads, or an interesting garnish.

Full Instructions:

Place about l0g of seed in a glass jar, fill with water and leave to soak for about 12 hours. Dont allow the seeds to float. After soaking, fix some muslin over the mouth of the jar with a rubber band and drain off the water. Rinse with fresh water and drain off the water immediately.

Leave in the draining position at room temperature.

Daily, 1 - 2 times a day, fill the jar with fresh water and drain off immediately.

Keep in a light place to green the sprouts. After a few days you will have up to 100 g of sprouts.

Rinse, eat and enjoy.

If you have a sprouter to sprout your seeds in please follow the instructions enclosed with your sprouter.

Serving suggestions: Broccoli sprouts are ideal in sandwiches, salads, for filling fajitas, wraps and bagels, sprinkling on soups. Can also be juiced with fresh vegetables or fruit for a really nutritious drink.

Growing Broccoli greens in a punnet/tray -

How to grow punnet (10x10cm) of Broccoli microgreens:

Fill your punnet/tray approximately half full of compost. You can place muslin on top of the compost which makes it easier to harvest but is not neceserry. Sprinkle about 10g of seed on top of the compost/muslin and spread evenly.

Water daily, using a can with a rose. Keep covered at room temperature for 3 days, watering once/twice a day keeping the compost moist, as it is important to keep the seeds moist during germination, but do not over water.

After 3 days uncover your greens and continue to grow in a light place. You can slow or speed the growth of the greens by manipulating the temperature.

Fresh air and sunshine is what it likes best, but for most of the year in the UK you will need to keep it indoors on or near a windowsill. In hot weather it is better to protect the plants from direct sunshine.

After 7-12 days, the microgreens will have formed the first pair of leaves and be ready to use.

To harvest cut a small bundle of the greens with a sharp knife or scissors above compost surface. If you've used a muslin you can pull out your greens. Rinse well before use, sprinkle on salads or use in sandwiches and enjoy.

Nutritional Information

Broccoli sprouts contain extremely high levels of glucoraphanin, the glucosinolate precursor to the isothiocyanate sulforaphane. Broccoli sprouts can have between 10100 times the amount of glucoraphanin that adult broccoli can have. The exact quantity depends on the day the sprouts are picked. Three days of growing seems to be the best. How the sprouts are prepared also has an impact - raw is best, cooking seems to eliminate some of the myrosinase.

To most effectively take advantage of these compounds, thoroughly chew your sprouts.
