GAPS & Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)

A great book was written by Elaine Gottschall about 50 years ago called “Breaking the Vicious Cycle”. It was a ground breaking book that explained much about the digestive system and how to heal it. It recommended a way of eating that was called “The Specific Carbohydrate Diet" often referred to as the SCD diet. This way of eating was found to be really helpful, but unfortunately it was soon lost as the pharmaceutical industry gained in its influence.

In order to help people who would like to follow the SCD diet, we have a link to a list of “legal” and “illegal” foods, many of which we have available in our shop.

(The list was compiled by Kim Hesche)

In recent years, Dr. Natasha Campbell McBride has continued along this path and has published several books, including her influential book “Gut and Psychology Syndrome”, which aims to educate people on how important it is to have a really healthy gut and digestive system and how to work towards achieving it.

Many people are finding that the GAPS diet is helping them to heal a whole range of conditions. Dr McBride has been working over the last few years to train up GAPS practitioners around the country that are there to help you follow this dietary protocol. In our shop we have experience talking to people about this way of eating for healing, and supply the foods etc. that are suggested.
